Uganda: Photo & Film Expedition 2027

Silverback gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda

Uganda is a country full of contrasts and breathtaking beauty. From the majestic mountain gorillas deep in the Bwindi rainforest to the vast savannas of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda offers an incredible richness of landscapes and wildlife. From tracking rhinos on foot to spending a day with rangers during a chimpanzee habituation, and of course a trek to see the mountain gorillas – together we will experience the magic of Uganda on a conscious and ethical expedition tailored towards photographers and aspiring film makers.

Join us for the extraordinary.

Some encounters leave a lasting impression, an imprint on your memory almost. Looking into the eyes of wild gorillas in Uganda is certainly one of those life-altering moments.

It was this expedition to the land of the gorillas together with my friend, film maker and activist Martina Trepczyk, that formed a deep bond not just between us, but us and the natural world in a profound way. Therefore we decided we want to share this experience with like-minded people who also interested in photography and film making and using their voice for the protection of nature. Now you have the chance to join us on an exclusive journey in January 2027! This trip only happens once, so don’t miss this opportunity.

Photo & Film expedition

Why should you consider this journey?

Between Martina and myself we can share a depth of knowledge about wildlife conservation, ethical wildlife tourism as well as photography and film making. Apart from being guided through Uganda’s most incredible treasures we will host sessions covering these vast fields, that are all interconnected in many ways. From conservation storytelling to responsible traveling, our fireside chats will be filled with wonder and enthusiasm.

9 nights / 10 days in Uganda — the primate capital of the world.

Uganda is also called the primate capital of the world. We will see chimpanzees and gorillas, but together we will also discover a variety of ecosystems from the savannas of Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks to the dense forests at Kibale National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

A conscious journey

Join us for an exclusive, conscious photography expedition: an intimate creative journey crafted for curious souls and passionate photographers and aspiring filmmakers.

Together, as two female photographers and filmmakers, we’ll guide you through breathtaking landscapes and close wildlife encounters, while teaching hands-on photography, filmmaking and editing right in our tents and camps.

Limited spots ensure a deeply personal experience for both advanced and beginners. It is an unforgettable opportunity to refine your craft, connect with nature, and capture the world with intention.

  • Chimpanzee trekking hub: It serves as ideal gateway for our chimpanzee habituation trek, as it is situated just minutes from the National Park gate.

Marafiki Safari Lodge:

  • Panoramic views: The lodge is perched on a hill overlooking Lake George, providing guests with stunning views of the water and the savannah plains.

  • Handcrafted design: Built by local artisans using environmentally friendly materials like eucalyptus gum poles and volcanic stone, the lodge reflects a deep commitment to the surrounding community and conservation.

2 nights. January 8-10. All inclusive.

Our home in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Engagi Lodge:

  • Breathtaking forest vistas: The lodge is built on a hillside, offering an open main building and private verandas that look out over the dense, ancient canopy of Bwindi.
  • Seclusion & design: Constructed using locally sourced materials like wood, thatch, and volcanic rock, the cottages are tucked away in the foliage to ensure maximum privacy and a close connection with the surrounding wilderness.
  • Ideal gorilla trekking access: Its location near the park headquarters in the Buhoma sector makes it a convenient starting point for trekkers, while the surrounding gardens frequently attract various forest birds and monkeys.

2 nights. January 10-12. All inclusive.

Rwakobo Rock Lodge:

  • Dramatic topography: The lodge is integrated into a giant rocky ridge, offering guests expansive 360-degree views of the surrounding bush and the park’s rolling savannah.
  • Wildlife at our doorstep: Because there are no fences, animals often wander through the grounds; it is common to see zebras, impalas, and warthogs grazing right beside the cottages or the swimming pool.
  • Active safari options: Its location makes it a premier spot for unique activities beyond traditional drives, including guided walking safaris that allow for a more intimate connection with the landscape and invite to reflection on our last day of the trip.
